This was on the Somewhere in time-tour when Bruce spent sleepless night penning down the story about the twenty-fifth Laird of Findidnann, Lord Iffy Boatrace. When the first book, The adventures of Lord Iffy Boatrace sold out almost immediately the publisher asked Bruce to write a sequel. Bruce is a master in ALL aspects of the arts!!! Lord Iffy Boatrace is a penniless aristotic crossdresser who has fallen on hard times and needs an idea but bring the cash back in The idea is to create robotic grouse to elongate the hunting season and bring tourism.. I outgrew this type of thing years back In truth being aware of Bruce Dickinson being a great all rounder maybe I expected more from him than this romp and in honesty I feel he may have a great book within him Surely a novel penned by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson must be worth a look, right?
I wish I could say it was worth the wait. The writing is fine, good even, but the story is thin and meandering. Lord Iffy Boatrace is in financial trouble so he invites a few of his upper-class-twit friends to his estate to see his new invention, which he hopes I remember this book coming out in and wanting to read it, just for curio value.
Lord Iffy Boatrace is in financial trouble so he invites a few of his upper-class-twit friends to his estate to see his new invention, which he hopes will restore his bank balance. Now from the first page until those friends arrive at his door takes half the book! The pace is much too slow for this type of farce. The characters are too cartoonish and manic to be even vaguely believable. Sorry, Bruce, despite a couple of Maiden references that made me smile, this was a tedious read.
Up the Irons!
